As vice president, consumerism at Magellan/ National Imaging Associates (NIA), Laurel Douty is responsible for developing and implementing a consumer engagement strategy that will give consumers the information, tools and opportunities to be more involved in managing their own health care and support health plans in their drive to provide consumers with more transparent quality and cost information.
Laurel is a creative thinker with proven success in the development of strategic business solutions and products. Prior to joining Magellan/NIA, Laurel worked at WellPoint/Lumenos, where she was vice president, consumer sales and engagement. During her tenure there, she created a consumer engagement product designed to transform the way consumers viewed their role in the health care process - from purchasing and managing health services to adopting healthier lifestyles.
Laurel also has extensive experience in benefits, compensation, organizational culture and change management, through leadership roles with Baylor Health Care System, Central and South West Corporation and Hewitt Associates.
Laurel holds a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Texas at Arlington. She is also a graduate of Leadership Texas and Menttium 100.
